Children from Pentland Primary School and Northfield Comprehensive school will be showcasing their creative visions of a mythical Billingham at a performance/exhibition of artwork, poetry, digital animations, photography and movement at Billingham Community Centre, The Causeway, Billingham on Friday 23rd March starting at 6.30pm.
The work has come from a pilot project funded by The DfEE (The Department of Education and Employment) to establish partnerships between schools and external agencies to provide after school activities.
Cleveland Arts have co-ordinated the after-school arts club at Pentland Primary School where the children have explored views of Billingham, blending past and present, fantasy and reality, world mythology and local history to create a unique environment where all of these strands are tangled together in a one off performance and celebration of community arts.
Artist Adrian Moule, photographer Kathryn Lee, digital artist Chris Kent and poets Maureen Almond and Andy Croft have all worked with the children since September 2000. The event includes displays of the artwork, which we hope will be on show at various venues throughout Billingham during the rest of the year.
The event is free of charge.
