Exhibition by the Warrior Women at Dundas Arcade, Middlesbrough, 25-31st October 2004
As part of AW4E, Middlesbrough’s Arts Week 4 Everyone an exhibition entitled The Perfect Garden is taking place in an empty shop in the Dundas Arcade, Middlesbrough during the week beginning 25th October.
The Perfect Garden project was designed by a group of women from Hartlepool. The women who are all survivors of abuse and domestic violence came together to produce work, which not only reflects their experiences but is also a celebration of their lives now.
Moira O’Neill, Project Co-ordinator said
“The concept of The Perfect Garden grew from the idea of how we may be down trodden, but if our roots are not destroyed we are able to grow back stronger. The Perfect Garden is a place where we can find sanctuary and peace.”
The women using photography and digital techniques with the support of artists Helen and Julie Ward created the banners.
The project is managed by Moira O’Neill and has been made possible by tees valley arts’ In:volve Programme, funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
