A group of artists from Middlesbrough with experience of mental health issues have teamed up with a local professional to create a collection of unique artwork.
Phoenix Art Group has recently finished working with Adam Baldwin, a local artist from Platform Arts in Thornaby, on a project called Landscapes and Journeys.
And now some of the fruits of their labour, including six paintings, are going on display at The Mall Cleveland, shopping centre, Middlesbrough.
Adam has used his residency not only to offer the skills he has to the group, but to gain new insights into his own ways of working.
Adam, who has been working with the group for six sessions, said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time with the Phoenix Art Group as we’ve all worked together freely and collectively. This project and the resulting exhibition will undoubtedly have an enlightening influence on my practice.”
The exhibition will appear in the display windows of The Mall Cleveland on Grange Road, Middlesbrough from 15th August to 10th September 2005. The full collection of paintings will then be touring other venues in the area.
