Tees Valley Arts is delighted to announce that BBC TV economics presenter – and local lass – Steph McGovern, is to become their second patron, joining well known actor – and local lad – Mark Benton.
Steph says she is very happy to support TVA in their work with people across the Tees Valley, and she is particularly passionate about the work the organisation does with young people, helping those with talent develop their skills and ambitions, and helping those in more difficult circumstances find a creative way forward.
Steph is pictured above with a pupil of Abingdon Primary School, Middlesbrough, at RSPB Saltholme, at the recent TVA event celebrating artworks created for the site by artists, wildlife workers and school pupils all working together. This event was part of Green TV, a two year project managed by TVA using the arts to engage pupils and families with their local natural heritage, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
TVA is looking forward to this new partnership with Steph, who regularly presents on BBC Breakfast, and who brings a bit of sparkle to the economic headlines.
TVA Director Rowena Sommerville says that Steph is a perfect example of the fact that young people from Teesside should set their hopes high and can achieve great things when they set their minds to it.
