Filmmaker Ellie Land worked with some groups of young people from Redcar and Cleveland, making short films about the area and what it means to them.
Participants enjoyed building on their drama and film-making skills. The group also learnt more about the area giving them a fresh and exciting perspective on the local area increasing pride and knowledge. The films were shown at a regional premiere and are available online.
This has been funded by a Northern Film and Media, using the work of early documentary filmmakers as a catalyst – in this case, specifically Marion Grierson’s travelogue ‘Beside the Seaside’.
