About Train

Unveiled in June of 1997, “Train” is said to be “Britain’s largest piece of sculpture”. It is the size of a locomotive from the 1930s and it was produced by David Mach. The art piece is made up of 181,754 house bricks placed onto concrete slab floors. The grassy bank represents the tunnel of the train and has a viewing platform on top of it. The hollow “Train” can be seen on the A66 Darlington bypass.
